Recently, TCC Technology Group, consisting of T.C.C. Technology (TCCtech), Leap Solutions Asia, and Shinasub, held an internal seminar on the topic “New Business Risks Brought on by Privacy Legislation’s Global Expansion.” This event, held at Empire Tower I, was joined by affiliates including ThaiBev PLC, The South East Insurance PLC, TSpace Digital Company, Asset World Trading, TCC Assets (Thailand), and GMM Media PLC. The seminar’s objective was to push and encourage the preparation for complying with Thailand’s Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) 2019 within a limited one year grace period for enforcement after the act was published in the Royal Thai Government Gazette.

An approach to personal data protection improvement in ASEAN is quite like the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Therefore, TCC Technology Group invited Mr. Shimpei Ogawa, Head of Business Risk Consulting HQ, Internet Initiative Japan Inc. (IIJ), the expert in business risk management and GDPR compliance assessment, to provide knowledge and implementation process for complying with the regulations. Nowadays, more than 70 percent of countries have data protection laws, with forms of enforcement differing in each country. Apart from data protection principles, everyone should focus on the importance of a Data Protection Officer’s role as well. In Thailand, a company must appoint Data Protection Officer if there is any direct and indirect process involved with delicate personal data, or validation of a large amount of personal data.
