Asia Data Center Alliance establishes definitive agreement

March 17, 2008 - Plaza Athenee – Bangkok Thailand – For the first time in regional Data Center history, four leading commercial carrier-neutral data center providers namely Thailand’s TCCT (TCC Technology), 1-Net Singapore, Malaysia’s The AIMS Asia Group and Vietnam’s CMC Telecom, officially signed the Asia Data Center Alliance (ADCA) definitive agreement. The Alliance will synergize local excellence and regional presence among Alliance members to provide a one-stop, comprehensive suite of business and technology offerings to enterprises, first-tier telcos, government agencies and banks.

Spanning a total area space of more than 500,000 square feet, the Alliance creates an unmatched regional data center hub with the ability to achieve a projected annual turnover of over THB 2,700 million (US$ 75 million) by 2010. Its One-Stop-Shop concept means customers approaching any of the data center under the Alliance will have access to services complying with international standards and the advantage to transfer data and digital content media seamless across borders. In addition, the Alliance also assures total data protection through both disaster recovery sites and consistent security practices.

Following the signing of the initial Memorandum Of Understanding in June 2008, the ADCA is committed to standard key operational guidelines that lays the foundation for activities relating to cross-selling, promotions and marketing. With the help of a technical partner, the Alliance will also embark on a Green Data Center initiative to save energy and help protect the environment.

The establishment of a common marketing and technical committee by the ADCA further promotes and supports the services rendered to customers in each of the partnering countries, with members acting as a single in-country interface for data center services hosted in other countries. Policies and guidelines will also apply to the admission of new partners in the Alliance in the future.

Mr. Kosit Suksingha, Managing Director of TCCT, said, “The ADCA initiative is aligned with the company’s business direction. The National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) has recently awarded the International Internet Gateway and Domestic Exchange License Type II to TCCT. This license, along with international cooperation through the ADCA, helps broaden the scope of current services, e.g. Domestic Internet Exchange and International IP Transit/ Private Leased Circuit and IP VPN for offering to leading enterprises.”

“1-Net Singapore is proud to be a member of this Alliance with such established partners in the region. We see this Alliance as an opportunity to extend our services with a single point of customer contact by providing a comprehensive suite of regional DC solutions on a common Alliance platform to meet the regional business needs of our customers. We are excited to integrate our strengths with our partners’ and create significantly more synergies in providing a secured and reliable regional data centre services. Going forward, we are expecting to see other data center providers in the Asia region to come on board." said Mr. Yow Tau Keon, Managing Director, 1-Net Singapore.

“We at AIMS are absolutely thrilled and happy that this alliance comes at a most crucial point in the regional data centre scene. The joining of hands by us four alliance members adds more credence and weight that this region is set for an explosive growth in point to point cross border content and services rollout. We look forward to such exciting times.” said VP for Business Development AIMS Asia Group Mr Loh Yuen Weng.

“Signing the agreement of collaboration, on the one hand, continues to strengthen the Alliance’s cooperation. On the other hand, it helps to bring the customers conveniences and cost effectiveness by utilizing the one-stop-shop services of the Alliances instead of themselves investing especially in the time of such financial crisis,” said Dr. Pham Anh Chien, Chief Executive Officer of CMC Telecom.
